I’m relatively new to hypnosis as I just earned my degree as a 5-PATH hypnotherapist in Denmark. I found this introduction to Milton Erickson very interesting, so I would like to read more about him and his contributions to the field of hypnosis. Which book would you recommend for me to learn more about Erickson? And can you clarify who was Erickson himself mostly inspired by?

Fredric is really the expert on Milton Erickson, not me. It would probably be better for him to offer some book recommendations. However, I have found that “Ericksonian Approaches” by Rubin Battino and Thomas SOuth to be excellent, and the chapter by Stephen Lankton in the Oxford Handbook of Hypnosis is also really excellent – and you get the rest of the book, which is in my top five in the field.
To understand Erickson’s inspirations, you could listen to the references in the episode about Clark Hull and others that Fredric refers to, but Erickson did pioneer much of his approach so much of it is original and inspired by himself.
